Your first pack of cards?

What was the first pack of cards you bought?  For me, it was 1988 Topps Football.  I was a ten year 49ers fan, and in the pack was a Jerry Rice.  I was hooked, soon I saved up my money and bought a whole box of 1988 topps football.  I had just moved into a new town and the common interest in cards helped me make friends, as it was the thing most boys did back then.   Today I have a large Jerry Rice collection.

dont really remember my first pack but i remember the first card I owned that started me to collect Tim Duncan was his Upper Deck Rookie card, and the first card that turned me to a serious collector was his topps chrome sports illustrated relic refractor /50

Based on the box of my original collection, it seems that my first packs had to be 1970 Topps Baseball, but only maybe 5-6 packs or so.  The next few seasons I had hundreds of each year and I remember splitting boxes with one of my friends at the time.

I remember it very clearly. It was 1983 and my Dad took me to the card shop. He bought me a 1965 Topps leaders card with Koufax and Drysdale. It wasn't in great condition, but I was fascinated immediately by the older cards. He also said I could get a pack - I chose 1981 Donruss because it was older than the 1983 cards. I still have those cards!
