Sending time sensitive cards out that may have value now is a bad idea, when the player may be retired when, and if you ever get them back. I'm thinking he's being sarcastic, referring to Robert, Bohm, Ball, Edwards etc. Hot now, but by the time you get the cards back they might be worthless.
