Are you able to request an authentic grade(AU) if the grade is under an 8? If so, where on the submission form can you request this?

I don’t believe any grading company does that. Either you can request authentic only (though, I don’t know if CSG does that or not), or you can request it to be graded. If you opt for graded, and the item is deemed authentic but altered, most companies will note the alteration on the label. Some might even opt to not slab the card at all.

A submitter can request that CSG print “Authentic” in the grade box instead of a numeric grade as long as the card is authentic and not altered. The Authentic designation will also be used if a card is below the minimum size requirements.

That’s not what OP was asking.

OP wants to be able to request min grade 8, but have the card be slabbed as “authentic” if it falls below that, as opposed to being returned ungraded. He wants to proverbially “have his cake and eat it too.”

If CSG ever did anything like that, I feel it would destroy trust in the brand.
