  1. If you look at the grading scale, not every grade has a Surface or Edges description. So I imagine that so long as you clear the minimum hurdle w/o subs, it doesn't come into play when grading a card without subs. Meaning, someone isn't spending time splitting hairs on a Surface or Edges sub-grade if the centering and corners grades have already more or less dictated the grade. Example, what's the difference between a 7 and 7.5 for surface? I do see that taking added time.
  2. CSG graded my '71 Ryan a 5.5 - ID is 1005604003 if you want to look it up. Fair grade, lined up with their grading standards. Yours looks notably sharper but centering is further off. Probably a candidate for sub grades.
  3. Shops in the area that deal with slabbed cards. Shops that deal in comics will be well aware of who CSG is. Also, they can pretty clearly see the quality of the card and slab.
  4. FWIW I've been selling my CSG slabs to local dealers who I'm able to quickly educate on who CSG is and I'm getting FMV without question. All my cards have been either vintage (50s-70s) or 80s (Rice RC, Jordan 2nd yr).
  5. First, sorry for your loss, that sucks. But, the insurance information has never been buried and was clearly present on the old submission form. You can more or less see it in this old submission video they posted. https://youtu.be/Wz2rG5Jo6YQ?t=278
  6. 6, but it was shipped with 2 cards sent Express (Jordan 2nd yr, Rice rookie), so speculation would be that they processed faster because the box was open and didn't want them kicking around.
  7. Shipped 8/10, Received 8/18. Received was 5/28 for Economy. Seeing that Economy is 120 days now, I definitely came in well under that.
  8. I imagine it'll delay things a bit. I'd recommend trying to find an exact match on eBay. Alternatively, try Google searching for the set itself (ex: 2020 Prism Basketball) and then make your way to a site that describes the set, and card versions, in detail, like cardboardconnection.
  9. Update for all the fine folks here. My order, after going from Grading/Encapsulation/Imaging to Grading/Quality, spent only 2 days there before being updated to Shipped. Lovely!
  10. How long until your order moved from Quality Control to Shipped? My order just moved from Grading/Encapsulation/Imaging to Grading/Quality Control which hopefully means the time consuming things are over and now it's just a final signoff.
  11. Received date was 5/28 which was maybe a week after the package was delivered to them. I had economy cards in with express cards (86 Rice, 87 Jordan). I was charged for grading about 3 weeks later, even before the grading status was reflected (when I paid for me express order).
  12. My Economy order has been in Grading/Encapsulation/Imaging for a couple of weeks now, so I emailed. Rep let me know that the cards have been graded and are now waiting to be encapsulated. They charge you at grading, but then you have to wait for them to get slabbed, photographed, and shipped. You'd think that'd be the fastest stage but it seems to be the slowest.
