  1. I've been getting comics graded via CGC for years. I have a stockpile of non-sports cards (star wars, rittenhouse, scfihobby, etc) that I need to get graded. The other grading companies are just out of line on their pricing and/or not accepting low end submissions at present time. Just looking to see if the service is going to be incoming, on the horizon, or in the far future?
  2. Instant payment and a pleasure to deal with. Thank you.
  3. I finally got the rest of my books back from C2E2. Depsite 1 not being able to get graded because of overhang (Grimm Fairy Tales #1), and the unfortunate Finch incident I was very happy with the following:
  4. I picked up the following book pretty much walking out the door of C2E2. It was a steal... I new it was a 9.6, hoped for a 9.8 and got it. Too bad it was separate from all the rest of the books i subbed @ C2E2. Hopefully those will be here later in the week.
  5. Wow, those last three are hot! Im just not too fond of the sig placements on the Avengers #27 I would definately be interested in the Civil War, the Mighty #1... But i dont know what i have that would interest you...
  6. Thanks! Now i just have to figure out a way to mass produce my idea...
  7. I could - but i dont think you would want to pay union wages for me to do that... aside from the use of the router, its a pretty simple job. I had to set the depth just perfect so it just gets the round edge of the Slab perfectly. I had a fun time doing it.
  8. my original plan called for 1x2 pieces of wood, with an edge routed in them that is the exact same size as the edge of the cgc holder. Well, I went to Home Depot today and was going to buy 6 ft pieces of oak or pine if they were pretty straight - well after going through stacks of both wood - nothing was at all straight. Home Depot has the worst lumber.. Well, as I was going through the isle to see what kinda options I had, and I came across primed 1x2 MDF with a rounded front. They were like 2.50 for a 6 ft lenght. Best part about this solution - the mdf is more flexible than wood, and was a lot easier to use a router on to make the grooves. I found studs and drilled right into them - you can use sinkers if you are going straight into drywall. hope that helps -Mike
  9. I just came up with a clever way to display slabbed books:
  10. I just got this boatload back today: I was really happy with the X-Men 500 Turner Variant - thought it would be a 9.6 as well. Same goes for the DF Black Widow - its a great book. Out of 21 books, I got 19 9.8's, 1 9.6, and 1 9.4
  11. I just got my first batch of comics back from my first non-onsite submission and I am very happy overall. My second batch should be here sometime next week!!! left to right, top to bottom: Wonder Woman #23 9.8 New Avengers #27 1:50 Yu Variant 9.8 (got this out of a $2 box at a local store) ASM #570 Monkey Variant 9.8 Buffy TVS Season 8 #4 Variant 9.8 '' '' '' '' #2 Variant 9.8 Wonder Woman #25 9.8 Superman / Batman #10 Turner Variant 9.8 Thunderbolts #115 Bianchi Variant 9.8 X-Men Sworld of the Braddocks #1 9.8 Ms Marvel #20 Zombie Variant 9.8 ASM #570 Hero Variant 9.8 Savage She-Hulk Zombie Variant 9.8 Young X-Men #1 Variant 9.8 shares theme with below Buffy comic... Buffy Season 8 #5 Variant Wolverine #27 Quesada Variant (same $2 box as the NA #27) Annihilation Conquest: Quasar #1 8.5 ! I must have missed a huge negative... X-Force #10 Variant 9.6 X-Infernus #1 Campbell Variant 9.6 X-Men Phoenix Endsong #1 (Green Costume Variant) 9.6 Cable #7 Zombie Variant 9.6
  12. Well, to me, waiting in line & meeting the artist is part of the fun, so I cannot see "dropping off books" in my future - unless I start a business of it Im just there for me, presently. thanks for the answers! -Mike
  13. Hello all, Im new to the site & to graded comics. I have been an on/off collector for a long time, and I figured it was about time to start getting some of my stuff graded, and start buying graded items. But I have a few questions... most of which, have probably been asked 1000 times, but i'm going to ask them again 1.) I have many autographed comics, from shows in the past. While I know that they cannot be submitted for CGC-SS, can they still be submitted for normal grading? Would the SIG compromise the grading? 2.) I would like to get some comics signed & graded for CGC-SS @ WizWorld Chicago this year from a variety of different artists (Bendis, Tan, Ramos, Calafiore, etc), and I was wondering what I have to do (aside from waiting in line for them)? 2a) I remember seeing something last year @ WizWorld about having to buy a ticket from CGC to have someone come and watch the signing, is that still how it works? If you purchase a "ticket" do you get the cgc person for a certain amount of time, or is it by artist/amount of books/etc? 3.) I bought one of the WizWorld VIP passes, and they have exclusive signings for VIP members - do they provide a CGC representative for those signings? 4.) Is the onsite grading @ WizWorld more costly than the normal grading? Do I just drop books off @ the CGC booth? It it is more costly than normal grading, can I drop books off @ the show, and have them shipped back at the normal rates? I probably have more questions, but wont remember them until showdate... I appreciate any help any of you have! thanks!
